Back to School Time

‚Äč

"Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, "This is the way; walk in it." Isaiah 30:21

Summer has flown by, and now it is time to gather your children's supplies, new shoes and school clothes for going back to school. This is a time of mixed feelings for all of us. You want to make sure that your child will love his or her teacher, and you want to make sure that there will be friends in their classroom. As parents we want to consider how we can make these transitions easier, more comfortable, and effortless. Truth is, we can't do this without the help of our Father in Heaven. Prayer is our greatest defense for all that our children will be facing each day.

This year why not try slipping a simple Bible verse like the one I have included above in their lunchbox. When they are home, ask them how they saw God throughout the day and what they did so their friends would see God in them. These conversation starters may surprise you as your children begin to look for ways to answer these questions each day. Help your children with your prayers each day.

I know that it is so easy to get busy, but the prayers of a parent are powerful and since we can't be with them it is comforting to know that God can.

New Music Program For Children's Ministry

Age 4 through 4th grade

We are excited to announce a new Children's Choir Ministry for teaching worship to children and then giving them the opportunity to share their musical gifts in our services. If your child plays an instrument, sings, or likes learning lines and speaking to our congregation, let us know.

This team will be teach our children to sing for our worship services. Our first effort will take place on Christmas Eve. For those who do not choose to sing we will have the option to play a percussion instrument.  We are very excited to welcome Kelsey Koenig and Rebecca Seifert to our Children's Ministry Team.

Meet Kelsey Koenig. Kelsey will help to teach music to our children during the 9:30 am hour on Sundays. Kelsey sings in our modern service and  led the Salem children in Vacation Bible School this summer. Kelsey is married to John, and they have 4-year old Sophia, and 1-year old James. Kelsey is the 7th Grade Dean and teaches math to 7th-12th at Villa Duchesne.

Meet Rebecca Seifert. Rebecca sings in our Salem Chancel Choir and in the American Chamber Choral. Rebecca teaches music at one of our Catholic schools and has a music education degree.
