Sitting in Silence

Prayer Practice: Sitting in Silence

As we seek to listen and pray in a noisy world, it is appropriate and necessary to learn to sit in silence. Sitting in silence can be a difficult practice if you aren’t accustomed to it. Instead of jumping into the deep end of silence, we encourage you to gradually become accustomed to the practice. Below is a program designed to have you sitting in silence for 15 minutes at a time by the end of the week. If silence is something you are accustomed to, then we encourage you to adjust the timing of the silence to fit your needs. Remember, sitting in silence helps to prepare our hearts and minds for communion with God, allowing us to become more aware of God’s presence with us.
