Tornado Relief

The Spirit comes to help our weakness. We don’t know what we should pray, but the Spirit himself pleads our case with unexpressed groans. -Romans 8:26

In times of crisis like these we are moved to respond to help in some way; however, we do not always know our best course of action. As you can see from the UMOCM website the relief teams are waiting for an invitation from Oklahoma to respond.

“MO is awaiting an invitation from Oklahoma for ERT teams to deploy. First responders are still in Search and Rescue mode.”

The best way to help today is financially. The people of Moore, Oklahoma, need our resources as they begin to put the pieces back together.

The most effective immediate help is:
Online donations to US Disaster Response, Advance #901670
Or 1-800-554-8583. To make an immediate $10 donation text RESPONSE to 80888
Donate directly to MO Annual Conference
Find OCM Clean Up Kits and Health Kit information
Kit collection info will follow, but churches may build and collect kits now.

Salem will continue to respond to the people of Oklahoma with our prayers and our support. Like Joplin, MO, cleaning up and rebuilding will be a long process. Work teams will be needed in the coming months. Our church will be taking a team to work as needed when we receive further information and the green light from the area. I am putting a team together. If you are interested in participating in this mission work in Oklahoma email me at terri@salemstlouis.com

If you would like to make your donation through Salem, simply write Oklahoma Tornado on the memo of your check and we will send it to UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief).

In God’s Mercy,
Pastor Terri
