Music

Music Matters

Salem’s musical teams include some of the finest classical and modern musicians and vocalists in St. Louis, as well as musical guests from around the world. But our music is never just a performance. Our music seeks to inform and shape our faith as we praise God together each week. Our weekly worship services and special events highlight a variety of musical styles, but all of them are designed to inspire, comfort, challenge and transform lives.

Heart of Worship

Does your child love to sing? Children (K-12th grade) are invited to join Salem’s new vocal group, Heart of Worship, led by Sharifa Black. No auditions—everyone is welcome! Practice is on Wednesdays, 6:30-7:30 pm, from September 4th to Christmas 2024. Performances will be during Sunday worship and the Christmas season. Scholarships have been provided for all participants. Registration is required.

Salem United

Salem United is a modern worship music band led by Rev. Tim Power and Rev. Nick Savage, originating from Salem United Methodist Church in St. Louis, MO. The collective features gifted singers and skillful instrumentalists, both professional and lay musicians.  Through their music Salem United shares music to inspire and shape our faith as we praise God together.

Salem Choir

The Salem United Methodist Choir, a blend of professional and volunteer singers, rehearses weekly to perform traditional hymns, classical pieces, and spirituals that enrich our worship. Accompanied by our Moeller organ and Steinway grand piano, the choir leads hymns every Sunday and performs with our orchestra and guest soloists. Directed by Stephen Morton, rehearsals are Wednesdays from 7:30 to 9:00 pm (September-May), and all are welcome to join!

Salem Chamber Orchestra

The Salem Chamber Orchestra, conducted by Stephen Morton, is a professional ensemble that regularly enriches our 11:00 am traditional worship service at the Mid-County Site. We believe that great music transcends style; it speaks to the soul and has the power to transform lives. Join us to experience the uplifting impact of live orchestral music in worship.

Study Music at Salem

The Third Viennese School of Music® brings classical values into the modern era to train the next generation of creative artists. We believe the best place for young musicians to grow is in the church where they can thrive in a meaningful culture and use their skills to glorify God.

The church has been a home for classical music throughout history; we are revitalizing this beautiful art in the church by offering classical music instruction for children, teens, and adults at Salem United Methodist Church.  For more details visit https://www.3vsm.org/.
